dr. janice lau
after years of having provided dental care at a prestigious pediatric practice in the upper east side, dr. lau started BHPD in her own neighborhood - brooklyn heights. dr. lau has been a brooklyn heights resident since 2005 and has grown to love the neighborhoods. it is her determination to provide high quality of dental care to the youngsters in this community.
dr. lau is a diplomate of the american board of pediatric dentistry which certifies and recognizes the excellence of her work. she is also a clinical instructor at lutheran medical center where she teaches the dental residents.
dr. lau first received a bachelor of science in biochemistry degree from binghamton university. after completion of her undergraduate studies, dr. lau attended the university of buffalo school of dental medicine. she graduated with a doctor in dental surgery degree. she then was accepted to an advanced post-doctoral general practice residency at mount sinai hospital in new york city. it was during that time that dr. lau found her passion for working with children. subsequently, she completed her post-doctoral specialty training in pediatric dentistry at maimonides medical center in brooklyn, where she also served as the chief resident.
dr. lau is an active member of the american academy of pediatric dentistry, the american dental association, and the new york state dental society.
in her leisure time, dr. lau enjoys traveling, yoga, and snowboarding.

"i was born in jordan and when i was 7 years old, my family moved to the united states for a better life. i grew up in nj where i was introduced to so many cultures and backgrounds. i attended school and went on to obtain an associates degree in office systems technology. with this degree, i was able to become a substitute teacher for elementary grades for 4 years, which i enjoyed immensely.
in 2008, i got married and relocated to brooklyn, ny. teaching kids brought me great joy, so when the job opportunity opened up with bhpd, i knew it was the perfect fit.
in my spare time, i enjoy being involved in a community teaching program. my husband and i love traveling and exploring different countries. my hobbies also including snorkeling, cooking, and watching movies."

"i was born and raised in southeast michigan. after going to school for massage therapy and getting married, my husband and i moved to new york. in an effort to expand my horizons and my abilities, i decided to go to the new york city college of technology for dental assisting. after having gained experience at a few general dentist offices, i found my home with dr. lau and the kids at brooklyn heights pediatric dentistry. although i don't have children of my own, i relate to children and try to treat them how i would want to be treated.
when i'm not working, i enjoy playing tennis, working out, doing volunteer work and hanging out with my friends and family."
